The course introduces students to the concept and importance of natural resource and environmental conservation. It examines the major constraints to natural resources management and some of the solutions. The course also introduces students to various approaches to the formulation of resource management plans. Specifically the course deals with aspects of natural resource governance; integrated natural resources management, establishment of protected areas, biodiversity conservation, property rights and regimes, and policies on natural resources management. Understand the major environmental and natural hazards which can occur to a given society.
