The module aims at introducing students to the chemical and three-dimensional structures of biological molecules; to their occurrence in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and to their hierarchy organization.

They students should understand general knowledge on the structure of carbohydrates; on the structure of amino acids and peptides/proteins; on the structure of lipids; and on the structure of nucleotides-nucleic acids. They should understand their reactions; their importance in living systems and their utility in our everyday life.

The students should at the end understand general knowledge on anabolism process (metabolism and catabolism); on composition of cells and roles of its different parts. The module covers also the occurrence of vitamins and other natural compounds through enzymes/cofactors. The Students learn their metabolism and roles.

Through the energetic biochemistry, they learn the Krebs cycle; the glycolysis; the glygenolysis and the catabolism of different other compounds. This part of module will be ended by laboratory practical in which isolation, characterization of these compounds will be done.
