Company Law aims to ensure students understand the key aspects and principles of the Law regulating companies. Through this course, they may recognize issues that require the advice of a legal expert and provide the basic advice for their employer or employee in legal matters. Having the profile to work with companies, students will be able to explore, read and advise on different set of laws on companies.

 

The principles learnt in this course will be and complement a series of accounting and management courses such as Financial Reporting, Managerial Finance, Auditing, Advanced Financial Reporting, Advanced Corporate Finance and Audit Practice & Assurance Services.

Having successfully  completed this course, students should be able to:

 -         provide advice on the formation of a company,

 -         distinguish a company from other business organization,

 -         analyzing the shareholding structure,

 -         understand appointment and removal of Directors, Secretary and auditor of the company,

 -         understand procedures for corporate insolvency and alternative procedures to winding up,

 -         understand the conditions for the removal of a company from the Register of companies.
