This module intends to introduce students to basic building blocks of inferential statistics. Students will be exposed to ideas of probability distributions and their properties.

Inferential statistics consists of techniques, involving sampling distribution, collecting, tabulating, presenting and summarizing information in clear and effective ways in order to conclude about the population.

It also consists of estimation theory, interval estimation theorem, hypothesis testing, etc.

Probability: Axiomatic and classical approach to probability and its applications, Special probability distributions/ densities (Discrete and Continuous random Distributions), their properties and applications; Estimation Theory, Special sampling distributions, Test of hypotheses, parametric and non parametric
