The module entitled “Advanced English Grammar and Linguistics”, administered by the Faculty of EDUCATION (Department of Arts and Humanities), is designed for students of Level II, Options of English-French, English-Kinyarwanda and English-Kiswahili. Students should have successfully completed the Module of Introduction to English Grammar and Linguistics.
This module aims at developing students’ ability to analyze the structure and meaning of English sentences and texts by use of the various theories of syntax and semantics and grammar rules. Students will be introduced to advanced grammar by analyzing various types of clauses and sentences, and various syntax and semantics theories.
There will be continuous assessment in various ways: periodical written and oral tests basing on the various objectives and at the end there will be a final written examination.

Kozi hii ya Advanced Communication Skills in Kiswahili inalenga kuwawezesha wanafunzi kuimarisha na kukuza ujuzi wao wa mawasiliano kwa kiwango cha juu kupitia mada mbalimbali muhimu. Kozi itahusisha uchambuzi na matumizi ya usemi wa taarifa na wa halisi, mbinu za lugha, mbinu za sanaa, pamoja na dhana ya rejesta na misimu katika miktadha tofauti ya mawasiliano. Kupitia mafunzo haya, wanafunzi watajifunza kutumia Kiswahili kwa ufasaha, usahihi na ubunifu katika mazingira ya kitaaluma, kijamii na kitaasisi.

This is the module entitled “Advanced Communication Skills in English”. It is the first module in level II, Faculty of Education, options of English-French, English-Kinyarwanda and English-Kiswahili.
To learn this module, you must have successfully learnt the module of “Introduction
to Communication Skills in English”. It is a ten-credit module; this means that you can cover it in approximately 100 hours.
However, it is possible to finish it in less or more time than this because we do not all learn at the same speed.
This module aims at improving your ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing as well as improving your reading and listening skills. Concerning speaking, the major concern is for you to pronounce English correctly and to be fluent, that is, to speak English without many difficulties. To pronounce English correctly, you will learn the English sounds and stress and to improve your fluency, you will learn typical expressions used in particular situations. In writing, you will learn strategies for writing essay and other types of business communication. About listening, you will do practices in listening to native speakers in order to familiarize yourself with their accent. At last, concerning reading, you will learn and apply the various reading techniques.
The module will also address important issues of business communication which also plays a great
role for success in your career.
