Somo hili linawapatia wanafunzi ujuzi wa msingi na wa kati kuhusu fasihi ya Kiswahili, hususan fasihi simulizi na fasihi andishi. Lengo kuu ni kuwawezesha wanafunzi kuelewa chimbuko la fasihi, vipengele vyake, tanzu, dhima, na historia ya fasihi ya Kiswahili pamoja na kufanya uchambuzi wa kazi mbalimbali za fasihi.

OVERVIEW
This module is a 10-credit course with 2 parts. Part one is concerned with a short Survey of English Literature. Part two involves a survey of African literature in English.
In each of the two parts, the history of literature in English is highlighted with particular focus on major genres and authors for each period.
This module helps students in the exploration of African and British literature. It gives insights into the evolution of British literature, drama, and novels and their impact on literatures that developed in Africa.
