This module will introduce you to agricultural crop production systems and its components. Together we will discuss on the the following chapters.

1. Introduction to agricultural production,

2. The development of crop production and cropping system,

3. Fertilizers and their uses,

4.Tillage practices,

5. Soil and water management,

6. Weeds management,

7. Pest and diseases,

8.Harvesting and processing of field crops and

9. Storage of field crops.

After completion of each chapter, you will see an assessment which must be submitted before starting a new chapter and remember to meet to meet the deadline of submission for each one.

The special farming studies will be geared toward developing students’ specific farming skills as special plant practices and animal techniques.

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

i.  The use of different tools in farms

ii.   The basic knowledge and understanding of importance of the special farming studies;

iii.  The development of particular skills in the practices needed in farming systems.
