This course introduces students to the principles and practices of forest management, with emphasis on sustainable use, conservation, and development of forest resources. It covers forest ecosystem characteristics, forest functions and values, forest resource assessment, silvicultural systems, forest protection, and forest management planning. The course also addresses policy, legal, and institutional frameworks, as well as community participation in forest management. Through lectures, fieldwork, and case studies, students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective and sustainable forest resource management, particularly in tropical and developing country contexts.
