The course of research methodology takes the students through the process and procedures used to gather information and to seek the answers to unanswered questions to contribute to the body of knowledge in a discipline. This course comprises of six Chapters, namely: Chapter I Introduction and definitions, Chapter II: Topic formulation, research objectives, questions and hypothesis, Chap III: The literature review, Chapter IV: Methodology (overall strategy, sampling methods (who to study), data collection (how to gather information), data analysis (how to interpret findings), and ethical considerations, Chapter V: data presentation, interpretation and analysis. The main aim of research is not merely to gather information. Instead, it goes beyond that. The true goal of research is to seek answers to previously unanswered questions to contribute to the body of knowledge in a discipline. But not for your peers only, and indeed the whole world, to recognize your newly discovered or created knowledge, you have to show evidence of its validity or truthfulness. Determining the validity of your study is anchored on your research paper’s methodology.
